A Gift for the Power of Place
Chancellor Emerita Jacqueline R. Johnson's love for the University of Minnesota Morris is unparalleled. That's why she left it a boundless legacy named in honor of her family.
Chancellor Johnson, known affectionately to many as Jacquie, served UMN Morris as Chancellor for more than 10 years. During her tenure, the campus increased its capacity to support students, added and renovated facilities, and established itself in the higher education community as a national leader dedicated to sustainability.
To support the campus in its quest for local solutions to global challenges, Chancellor Johnson made a gift to the University's emerging EcoStation. The Johnson-Lisk Family Fund for the EcoStation further the vision of the space as a signature research platform by providing ongoing support for its development, use, programming, and care..
"When the Erik Torgerson family made the gift of land that is now the EcoStation, I saw in their generosity and vision the promise to excite in other the desire to learn in the context of social and moral purpose and environmental stewardship," she says. "My family's gift is made in the belief that the realization of this vision will allow future generations to experience the wonders of the natural world and to contribute to its endurance."
Chancellor Johnson's legacy is stronger than ever before thanks, in part, to gifts made to the Johnson-Lisk Family Fund for the EcoStation. These gifts will provide ongoing support for the EcoStation and all who study there—and the possibilities for new discovery and growth are limitless.
